The Ministry of Commerce, in exercising the power conferred under sub-section (b) of Section 13 of the Export Import Law, issued the Notification No.39/2020 on 25 May 2020 for the liquor importation procedures. The company shall apply for certificate of alcoholic beverage registration and liquor import license The notification details the requirements for the application of the import license such as proforma invoice or sale contract, alcoholic beverage registration certificate and FDA recommendation. It also prescribes regulations to be followed by the importers, such as the requirement to have specific warehouse and to import liquor only via Yangon Port and Yangon International Airport of Myanmar. The importers will have to comply with relevant excise laws and other relevant laws and regulations as well.
